Intro
Dragon Ball has held the title of the best shounen anime for a decade now. The tropes and story arcs that we take for granted in modern shounen anime all started with Dragon Ball. Saying this series was impactful would be an understatement because most of the current shounen are almost a retelling of Goku's story.
The dumb yet powerful main character and his frenemy, who is always trying to outpower him in Vegeta, create a story that has resonated with fans for decades and will continue to do so. If you've decided to give Dragon Ball a go, you've landed on the right web page. Dragon Ball has multiple series at this point, and we've decided to provide a chronological list for you to watch the anime.
This article also serves as an homage to the creator of Dragon Ball, the legendary mangaka Akira Toriyama, who sadly passed away a few days ago. RIP legend!
DRAGON BALL WATCH ORDER
1. Dragon Ball (The original series)
Follow the story of a young Goku and his quest to find the Dragon Balls. It's pretty wholesome and sets the stage for something greater to come.
2. Dragon Ball Z
Dragon Ball Z picks up where Dragon Ball left off. Goku is living a normal life and is married when one day, a mysterious person from the same planet as Goku comes to pay the planet a visit. This series kicks off one of the greatest stories ever told in anime.
3. Dragon Ball Kai
A remastered version of Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Kai offers nothing new. We'd advise our readers to watch this over the original as the original is excessively slow and filled with a lot of filler that is not suited for modern audiences.
4. Dragon Ball GT (optional)
Considered non-canon by most Dragon Ball fans and even the official lore, Dragon Ball GT follows the story of Dragon Ball Z and goes in many weird directions. Some consider it very bad, and a stain on the Dragon Ball franchise, while others adore it for pushing the boundaries of what Dragon Ball could be. Give it a go and see if you like it.
5. Dragon Ball Super
This is the canon continuation from the story of Dragon Ball and introduces many new arcs. It concluded a few years ago, and fans are eagerly awaiting a Season 2 very soon!
