The 5 Best Mobs That Never Got Added to Minecraft

The Minecraft development team truly loves its fans. They love them so much that they let the fans dictate how the game is developed and what features can be added. Obviously, we're not asked about every feature, but we are asked about the biomes and the mobs being added to the game. For the past few years, Minecraft hosts Mob Votes in which the community votes on which mob gets added to the game out of three. Each year, one such mob is added to the game. But, there have been so many mobs in the past that should've been added but got voted out. In today's blog post, we shed light on the best mobs which didn't get added and hope that Mojang someday adds them.

  1. The Great Hunger: This adorable little reptile-like creature was proposed in the 2017 Mob Vote. It had the unique ability to sink into the ground and ambush players and mobs. What made it fascinating was its ability to "eat" enchantments from items, which would have added a whole new layer to gameplay and strategy. Sadly, it didn’t make the cut.

  1. The Moobloom: Introduced in the 2020 Mob Vote, the Moobloom was a delightful yellow cow covered in flowers. It would have added a new dynamic to farming and interacting with bees. The Moobloom could have brought a touch of floral beauty to your Minecraft fields, but it lost to the Glow Squid.

  1. The Hovering Inferno: This blaze-like mob from the 2017 Mob Vote was another cool contender. It had shields that could deflect attacks, making it a formidable foe in the Nether. With its unique combat mechanics, it could have spiced up the fiery dimension, but the Phantom won that year instead.

  1. The Iceologer: Part of the 2020 Mob Vote, the Iceologer was a chilling illager variant that could summon ice clouds to attack players. Found in mountain biomes, this mob would have brought a new challenge to the high-altitude regions. However, the Iceologer was outvoted by the Glow Squid.

  1. The Wildfire: Similar to the Hovering Inferno, the Wildfire was a fiery juggernaut introduced in the 2021 Mob Vote. It had a spinning shield of fire and was intended to be a mini-boss in the Nether. Its addition could have made Nether fortresses even more thrilling, but it didn't win the vote.

These mobs had the potential to bring exciting new mechanics and aesthetics to Minecraft. While they didn't make it into the game, their concepts continue to inspire players and keep the community hopeful for future updates. Maybe someday, Mojang will give these forgotten contenders a second chance to shine in the world of Minecraft!
