In a few weeks, we'll be able to play the 9th-generation Pokemon games. I know every Pokefan is as excited as I am right now. But as there’s still some time to kill, why not use this time to explore some fan-made Pokemon games, which, BTW, are better than their original counterparts created by a billion-dollar franchise.

3. Pokemon Fire Ash

Yes, you heard that right; play the original first-gen games the way the anime wants you to, as the 10-year-old trainer from Pallet Town.  Not only that, but you can also capture any Pokemon from gen 1 to gen 7, so you can create any Pokemon team Ash used from generation 1 through 7.

These are great features, but my favorite one has to be the following Pikachu; it won't be a perfect re-enactment if there wasn’t a Pikachu to follow you.

2. Pokemon Insurgence

Pokemon Insurgence has the best name for any fan-made Pokemon game. 

It takes place in a new region called Torren and is in the art style of the 3rd generation games. You can customize your trainer's looks and combine different Pokemon to create a brand-new species. The game also supports mega-evolutions, so there’s much to do here.

1. Pokemon MMO 3d

It’s hard to believe that this is a fan-made game as the developers have created a 3d version of the Pokemon games, something even the Pokemon company somehow struggles to do. And if that wans’t mindblowing enough, the game also allows you to interact with any player from around the world!

You also get access to 4 different regions, so you’ll have a lot to explore.
